Art is useless. "'Nothing is really beautiful unless it is useless;
everything useful is ugly," said Théophile Gautier. Art is, moreover,
deeply gratuitous; it must be disinterested. We, the youth, are the
exception that proves the rule. We are passionate about art, drawing,
music, cinema, politics and so on. But in this world where the ardour
of youth is silent, our only escape is writing, drawing and creating.
Every word, every stroke and every colour has its meaning and its
purpose. Our Art is more than useful, it is crucial. And to express
ourselves, we must first observe the world around us. So that’s what
we are: Les Jeunes Observateurs.
